The Core Values Behind Odd Balls

Updated: Jun 26, 2023

What's an Odd Ball without Core Values?

Welcome to the world of Odd Balls, where we believe in the power of organic, functional food, and the strength of a community united by shared values. Our journey began with a simple idea: to create a snack that not only tastes great but also supports your health and the environment. This idea has grown into a mission that is guided by our core values: Quality, Responsibility, Unconventional, and Activism.

Quality: Our Commitment to Excellence

We use highly potent & organic mushroom extracts.

As a budding company, we are fully aware that our journey towards excellence is a continuous one. We are committed to delivering the highest quality products to our customers, and this commitment is reflected in every energy ball we produce. Our definition of quality is threefold.

It begins with Function - we believe in creating purposeful products that lead to less waste. With this ethos in mind, our mushroom extracts are more potent than most of the other products on the market because we believe it's important to use specific compounds in mushrooms for a specific purpose (focus, stamina, and immunity). Potency is measured by target compounds: fungal beta glucans, triterpenes, diterpenes, cordycepin and polysaccharides.

We then focus on the Organic aspect, because we know that the quality of ingredients matters. To us, organic also means that our products will always be non-GMO, free of preservatives, and never add any unnecessary sugars. Pure, unaltered goodness is what we strive for.

Lastly, we ensure that Taste is never compromised; we firmly believe that healthy eating should also be flavorful. As we continue to grow and evolve, these three pillars of quality guide our decisions and help us strive for excellence in everything we do.

We are constantly striving to improve and uphold our commitment to quality, making decisions that enhance the excellence of our products. As a part of this, we will always do our best to maintain transparency in our products, from our ingredients sourcing to the potency of our mushroom extracts. Just ask us!

Responsibility: Our Dedication to Sustainability and Health

Responsibility at Odd Balls is not just a value; it's a duty and the cost of doing business. We are accountable to all our stakeholders, including our customers, partners, community, and the environment. We understand that without a healthy planet, there can be no Odd Balls.

As a company, our actions have a significant impact on our community and the environment. We are dedicated to sustainability and will do our best to ensure that each step in our products' lifecycle, from our production process to our packaging are environmentally friendly.

We also recognize our responsibility towards the health of our customers and our community. That's why we're committed to providing food that supports not just short-term satisfaction, but long-term health and well-being. This includes giving back to our community through our One Ball Initiative to support young adults impacted by cancer as well as the environment we all have an impact on.

As a small start-up, our journey is only just beginning. But as we grow, we are committed to making decisions that reflect this deep sense of responsibility.

Unconventional: Our Unique Approach

Odd Balls was born out of unconventionality, starting with just one ball. Being unconventional is not just a value, it's our identity. We believe that our success and enjoyment stem from breaking with the status quo and doing things the Odd Ball way. We embrace our uniqueness and let it guide our decisions.

Our energy balls are not your average snack. Infused with a unique blend of functional mushrooms and without all the nasty preservatives and ingredients you can't pronounce, they offer a nutritious and delicious alternative to traditional energy bars.

Our approach extends beyond our products. As a skier/cancer thriver owned and operated company, we use our platform to raise awareness about testicular cancer and the power of functional mushrooms. Because life is just so much better when you can give back to a community!

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to this unconventional approach, always striving to stand out in the crowd, as Odd Balls typically do.

Activism: Our Drive to Make a Difference

Activism is at the heart of Odd Balls. Our founder, Jon Carter, turned his personal experience with Testicular Cancer into a mission to make a difference. But it's not just about raising awareness; it's about being a catalyst for transformational change.

Through Odd Balls, we raise awareness about the disease, but we also increase access too and utilize the power of functional mushrooms. These fungi are worth incorporating in the conversation and will be the driving force in change, soon to be the new standard in healthy snacking.

Whether it's encouraging outdoor adventures, raising awareness for Testicular Cancer, or supporting local environmental issues, our business is committed to making a significant impact. As we continue to evolve, we aim to make decisions that amplify our impact and drive positive change in our community and beyond.

Values in Action

At Odd Balls, our values are more than just words; they are actions. They guide every decision we make, from the ingredients we choose to the causes we support. We are proud to be a company that values quality, responsibility, unconventional thinking, and activism.

We invite you to join us on this journey. Together, we can make a difference in our health, our community, and our world. Not just with cheesy statements like that, but with real action (not quite like an action movie though, more like a documentary...).
